2,036 PARTICIPANTS BEGIN DAY TWO OF 60-KM WEEKEND TO END BREAST CANCER WALK RAISING $5.6 MILLION

Walkers will finish the last 30 km of their 60 km journey at The Coral, Stampede Park.

(Calgary, AB; July 29) - Yesterday, the Alberta Cancer Foundation announced that 2,036 participants raised $ 5.6 million in Calgary’s 3rd annual Weekend to End Breast Cancer, a 60 kilometre walk to raise funds for breast cancer research and care in Alberta. The multi-day event taking place in both Calgary and Edmonton netted over $12 million in the first two years. The fourth annual Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefiting the Alberta Cancer Foundation in Calgary is already planned for July 25-27, 2008. Read more...

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefits breast cancer research and care through the Alberta Cancer Foundation, a leader in the fight against cancer and a registered charity dedicated to accepting and raising funds for the Alberta Cancer Board programs and treatment centres. Bringing world-class cancer care closer to home for all Albertans, the ACB integrates high quality cancer research with the latest advances in patient care at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary and 16 other cancer centres throughout the province. The Foundation provides funding for leading-edge cancer research, advanced treatment programs, province-wide prevention initiatives, a patient financial assistance program, and patient care and support programs at all ACB cancer centres.
